Slug Success Updates Friday 9/15

Hello Slug Success users,

I have a few updates that I'd like to share with all of you. As always, if you have any questions, please email slugsuccess-help@ucsc.edu. Thank you!

Additional documentation added to Slug Success website - We are working to get a bunch of additional documentation up on our website to help new users (and to help long-time users keep up with changes). You'll find links to all of the new documentation here once it's been posted. Keep checking in to see what's new! If you would like to see something on the site that's not there, please let us know.

New look and feel for the Appointment Center - As you may have noticed, last week, EAB updated the interface for the Appointment Center. All of the old functionality is still present, and is sometimes easier to get to (fewer clicks overall), but you may want to familiarize yourself with the changes before students return. A guide on the Appointment Center is coming as well - see above for the link to all the new documentation.

Tutoring sign-ups will be available to students for Fall Quarter - Starting early Fall Quarter, students will be able to sign up for some tutoring offerings provided through Learning Support Services, via Slug Success. More information will be made available soon.

Student staff setup - For departments who utilize student staff (i.e. Peer Advisers and/or Front Desk assistants), I will be reaching out early next week to ensure that you and your staff have every thing you need so they can do their work. For Peer Advisers (student employees who need to write Advising Reports after meeting with other students), I will be asking for a list of SIDs and names so I can give them the correct access. For student staff who will assist with scheduling appointments, I will work with you to get a functional account set up for your department. If you have student employees in your office, and someone in your office hasn't heard from me by Wednesday, please send an email to slugsuccess-help@ucsc.edu so I can get you all set up. I know some of you have already provided me with this information, and I thank you all for your patience as I get things set up for everyone.

Electronic Advising signs - Departments who haven't already received a sign informing students about the use of Electronic Advising in your office, along with a plastic sleeve to display said sign, are welcome to print out your own (see attached document), or come by Hahn 245 to pick up a printed copy and sleeve from our office.

Slug Success login button - If you'd like to add a Slug Success Login button to your advising website and/or email signatures (we highly recommend at least one if not both of these options),
you can either copy and paste this code snippet into you page's source code:

<a href="https://ucsc.campus.eab.com"><button style="cursor: pointer; background: #3579b7; background-image: linear-gradient(to bottom, #3579b7, #00458c); -webkit-border-radius: 10; -moz-border-radius: 10; border-radius: 10px; text-shadow: 1px 1px 3px #000000; font-family: Arial; color: #f1b521; font-size: 20px; padding: 10px 20px 10px 20px; text-decoration: none;">Slug Success Login</button></a>

OR you can copy and paste this button entirely into your email signature (in gmail, edit your signature via Settings (top right) -> Email Signature):

Thank you to everyone for your continued patience and willingness to incorporate this new system into your workflow. If you have questions, the best way to get help remains emailing slugsuccess-accounts@ucsc.edu (to add, modify, or remove user access) or slugsuccess-help@ucsc.edu for any other questions.
